Welcome to Shamrock Park

Shamrock Park is a 20-hectare purpose built equine facility in Kuitpo, South Australia. Previously a racehorse property, the Horstmann family bought Shamrock Park in early 2014 and worked to upgrade the farm to include equestrian infrastructure.

Home to Warmblood stallion, Blackall Park Twist, we breed 2 or 3 foals a year to well-bred performance mares. Our foals are bred with type, temperament and talent in mind, and the oldest youngsters we have bred are now competing in show jumping, dressage and eventing.

Kate Horstmann, manager of Shamrock Park, is an experienced horsewoman who has spent many years working in the equine industry. From a competitive pony club eventer to working in racing stables whilst still in high school, Kate went on to have a brief career as an apprentice jockey before moving overseas to work with racehorses in England and Show Jumpers in Scotland. After returning from the UK, Kate took on the role as foreman for Gordon Richards Racing whilst competing in eventing and showjumping. In 2013, she competed in Perth and in 2014 she competed at Melbourne International Horse Trials with Va Va Voom, whilst studying Oenology at Adelaide Uni. Kate also rode Rajah’s Son to medium dressage.

Having taken a step away from competitive riding, Kate now focuses on breeding and producing young horses. She also juggles a career as a Winemaker and a small wine brand owned with partner Greg.
